Paul Taylor - Vicar (church leader)
Paul has led churches in Basingstoke and Salisbury before coming to lead St Matthew’s in 2018.
Paul was originally a building surveyor and still enjoys DIY, especially demolition! He is married to Lynn and they both love Worthing, for the local people who are so welcoming, the South Downs walking, and the sea where Paul can be seen falling off his paddle board!
Joe Shurmer - Worship Pastor
Joe joined us from Portsmouth in July 2021. He is married to Becca, and they are both adventurous at heart and love trying new things. Joe has always had a great passion for worship, and he is looking forward to seeing worship grow and develop in St Matthew’s and across Worthing.
Joe also founded a charity called Lionheart Uk, which held their first Christian festival on the Isle of Wight over the summer. Joe’s heart is for unity in the church & the whole body of Christ.
Clive Latter - Youth Worker
Clive arrived at St Matthew’s in 2014 and heads up all things youth and children. He has been involved in youth work for over a decade.
He is married to Kate and together they have a not-so-little-anymore girl!
He has a passion for sport and is an avid Spurs supporter despite the many frustrations that brings.
Clive says the best things about Worthing are the relaxed pace of life and its friendly, welcoming community feel.
Jackie Harris - Office Coordinator
Jackie is married to Ray and has worshipped at St Matthews for a number of years. She has worked in Christian publishing for most of her career and continues to edit Day by Day with God, Bible reading notes for women published by BRF.
A Yorkshire lass, Jackie loves living by the sea and enjoys visiting the theatres, exploring historic properties and a good cup of tea.
Phil and George - Our Church Wardens
As well as having an important governance role, our Church Wardens are a valuable support on many of the practical tasks that happen across a normal week.
